Board of Director

The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto (CCAS) is a leader and highly respected in the child welfare sector in Ontario.  The CCAS is one of 47 Children’s Aid Societies in Ontario and it is the 2nd largest board-operated urban child welfare agency in Canada. The Society is incorporated as a not-for-profit agency, with core operations funded by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services of the Province of Ontario.

The Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto is mandated by the Child and Family Services Act to provide child protection services to children and their families when children have been or are at risk of being emotionally, physically, or sexually abused or neglected.  It operates intake/investigation and community-based branches in Toronto, which provide a wide range of services to over 3700 families per year. The Society has around 500 staff, 181 volunteers and approximately 100 foster and group homes.

The Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors whose mandate is to provide agency accountability and oversight through the Board itself as well as through its various subcommittees. The full Board of Directors meets ten times per year; each Director is also expected to serve on two subcommittees.

We are currently recruiting a new Director for appointment to the Board.  Applicants must be Catholic, live or work in Toronto, and able to make a minimum commitment of three years to the Directorship.  Ideally, the successful candidate will have an understanding of the child welfare system and will reflect the diversity of the community we serve.  Previous experience on a Board of Directors is desirable.
